‘Holapalloozza’, A Global Medley of Music, Song and Dance

Holapalloozza, is a word coined by the International Women’s Federation of Commerce and Industry, India National Chapter.

It means ‘Hello to our pals from the different time zones of the world’ The event was a global medley of music, dance and song.

Performers from across the globe who participated included students of the Academy for Academic Professionals (AAP) run by Sunethra Jayaratne Nugawela from Sri Lanka. They sang the hit song ‘Manike Mage Hithe’. Leon D’Souza, Bollywood playback singer sang the songs ‘Imagine’ by John Lenon and ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran. Mabel Chan Pillai performed Johann Sebastian Bach’s ‘Double Violin Concerto in D Minor’, members of Soroptimist International from Durban, South Africa danced to the tune of ‘Jerusalema’, Mr. Bharadwaj Raman gave an enthralling performance on the Veena, the National musical instrument of India and Lata Pada, Founder and Artistic Director of Sampradaya Dance Creations, Toronto, Canada along with her Canadian and Balinese troupe gave a superb Bharat Natyam dance rendering of an excerpt from ‘Pralaya’ which dealt with man’s obsession with revenge. The opening welcome dance was performed by the RTN dance group of Pillai College, India.

The lead sponsor of Holapalloozza was IDFC First Bank. Ms. Shikha Hora Kamdar, Business Head, Consumer Lending in her opening remarks at ‘Holapalloozza’ stated that though the pandemic had hit everyone badly, women entrepreneurs have the resilience to bounce back and this collaboration with IWFCI India was an opportunity to fulfil their mission of the Bank as being a ‘force for social good’.

The chief guest, Sindhu Gangadharan, MD of SAP Labs India Pvt. Ltd. spoke about the ‘indomitable spirit’ of humanity in the face of a prolonged pandemic. She also said that SAP takes great pride to state that their company was one of the best places for women to work in India.
