IWFCI, India National Chapter partnered with the Pillai Group of Institutions to organise the FIFA/CIES/PILLAI Sports Conclave at Bangalore on the 19th March, 2019.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Daphne Pillai, President – IWFCI, India National Chapter and Chairperson Management Board, Mahatma Education Society said “While the Sports industry is booming on the one hand, there is a dearth of skilled professionals to meet the demand. Women can fit into this space by becoming action photographers, video editors, sports camp organisers, designers of sports memorabilia etc. Their entrepreneurial initiatives can be directed to meet the needs of the Sports Ecosystem in India. IWFCI will play a catalytic role in informing women about the opportunities available in sports entrepreneurship”.
The Sports industry in India is rapidly growing and there are many clubs, leagues, federations and companies in sports media, sports marketing, sports medicine, sports health and beverages and designing and manufacturing of sports goods and sports wear. Programmes such as the PILLAI /FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management will encourage the youth to pursue sports management in the quest of making India a sporting destination. IWFCI leveraged this platform to promote sports entrepreneurship. Many members from IWFCI attended the Conclave and it was an opportunity for networking and building connections.
